Welcome to the LabLearner hands-on learning program. LabLearner units have been designed so that essential scientific concepts spiral throughout the curriculum, taking into account the processing mechanisms of middle school students, while aligning with academic standards. In addition, various STEM-related skills are incorporated in each unit, such as mathematical, reading, writing, critical thinking, and fine motor skills, among others.
We will follow the weekly schedule of Note Day (where concepts are taught), Pre-Lab Day (where skills are addressed along with the lab procedures and observations to be made), Lab Day (following the scientific method with predictions, lab procedures in designated groups, recording and analyzing data, and drawing conclusions), and Post Lab Analysis (discussion and sharing of data, analysis, connections, and conclusions). Full and active participation is expected by each lab member. Scientific inquiry and hands-on investigations are the best ways to enhance the learning process and retain knowledge. All analysis questions and focus conclusions will need to be completed as homework on lab days.
