Saints Simon and Jude School takes the safety of our students very seriously. In recent years, many improvements have been made to our facility and procedures to ensure this safety.
All doors (external and internal) are locked at all times and there are double doors at each entrance.
Access is controlled by the school office for visitors and they have video and audio capabilities to communicate with visitors awaiting entrance.
School staff have keys and most recently a key fob system was added to all external doors.
License scan system in the office. Volunteers must have clearances and wear a name badge to indicate they have permission to be in the building.
Recording cameras on the perimeter of the building and in the school cafeteria.
Several drills take place including fire and lock-down.
Use of walkie talkies in the recess yard and during dismissal.
School Board Security Committee advises and assists with upgrades. They assisted with classroom door replacements for grades K to 8.
