I received my undergraduate degree and Early Childhood Certification from Widener University. I have taught Kindergarten at SSJ since 2002. Kindergarten is a wonderful time to watch a child grow socially, emotionally and academically. As a teacher, I love to see when a child "gets it" and they feel a sense of pride in themselves. My goal as a teacher is to provide each child with the tools they need to succeed in Kindergarten and beyond.

Blest Are We Faith in Action Kindergarten is a developmental, age-appropriate program based on Scripture and rooted in the teachings of our Catholic Faith.
In math the GoMath! series by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt is used. Throughout the Common Core Standards the units focus on:- Number and Operations
- representing, recognizing and writing numbers 0-20
- counting sequence and number names
- identifying groups of objects that are greater than, less than or equal to another group of objects
- understanding addition as putting together and adding to and subtraction as taking apart and taking from
- Geometry and Positions
- identifying and describing two and three-dimensional shapes
- Measurement and Data
- describing measurable attributes of objects such as length and weight
- classifying and counting objects in categories
ELA (English Language Arts)In ELA, the McGraw Hill Wonders series is used.
The Common Core Standards are divided into four areas, reading, writing, speaking and listening and language. The focus is on:- Phonemic Awareness and Phonics
- letters and their sounds
- blending sounds to produce words
- Writing
- printing letters
- writing words and sentences
- Text-based Comprehension
- setting, characters, compare and contrast, classify and categorize and sequence
- Oral and Academic Vocabulary
- introduction of high-frequency words each week
- meaning of words such as noun, verb, adjective, proper noun
- Number and Operations
