I am a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and I have certification in English Language Arts. I taught 6th grade and Library Skills at Sacred Heart School in Oxford before “coming home” in 2011 to Saints Simon and Jude, which is the school that I attended as a child. I am thrilled to be sharing my love of books with the school children!
Books are a uniquely portable magic. ~Stephen King
Books are lighthouses erected in the great sea of time. ~E.P. Whipple
A book is like a garden carried in the pocket. ~Chinese Proverb
TV. If kids are entertained by two letters, imagine the fun they'll have with twenty-six. Open your child's imagination. Open a book. ~Author Unknown
Library class is much more than just checking out books to read. The students also learn valuable multi-media research skills that enhance their education across all subjects. My goal is to give students the tools to locate useful resources independently and efficiently and to inspire each mind via the vast world of books.
Expectations for Library class
We expect that every student who comes to the library will participate in all the many diverse activities that we offer in class. All students are highly encouraged to take out books and return them in good condition each week. Our hope is that each student develops a love of reading and is open to new and different genres of literature.
Parents, our library is not only for your children! Please use us as a resource for appropriate reading selections and interesting authors. If you have the time, we have the need - please consider volunteering! We need help with the shelving of books and reading to the students. This is a great opportunity to share your love of reading with your child and their classmates.
