Saints Simon and Jude School offers a strong academic curriculum as well as support on an individualized basis. The school is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and operates under the auspices of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
Saints Simon and Jude incorporates the Common Core Standards for Math and English Language Arts (ELA). Core subjects include Religion, Math, ELA, Science, and Social Studies. The most current GoMath series is utilized for kindergarten through sixth grade and Reading Street series is used for kindergarten through fifth grade. Honors Math is offered for fourth through eighth grades and Progress in ELA is offered for sixth through eighth grades. SSJ offers specials which include Technology, Spanish, Library, Music, Art, and Physical Education for all grades.
Academic Success
In Saints Simon and Jude's class of 2016, 15 of the 30 eighth grade students qualified to sit for the Neumann Scholarship exam. 5 students were awarded scholarships to local Catholic and private schools of varying amounts.
All Saints Simon and Jude Terra Nova standardized test results in second through seventh grades were between the 72nd and 92nd percentile, with the national percentile norm being the 50th percentile.
In the past few years, Saints Simon and Jude eighth graders were awarded scholarships to the following high schools: Bishop Shanahan, Villa Maria Academy, Sacred Heart, Malvern Prep, Salesianum, and Saint Joseph Prep. Saints Simon and Jude students have been the recipients of the esteemed Neumann Scholarship, the Saint Ignatius Scholarship from Saint Joseph Prep, and the Presidential Scholarship from Malvern Prep.
